Portland Metro Pipe Band is Oregon’s only Grade 2 competitive pipe band. Formed in 2006, the band is led by Pipe Major Mark Tomasetti and Drum Sergeant Andrew Finley. The Portland Metro Pipe Band has competed at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, on three different occasions and also the North American Championships in Ontario, Canada. The band has also had a great opportunity to play with the legendary Irish group The Chieftains on several occasions. The band competes mostly in the Pacific Northwest but enjoys traveling to a few other contests in California and Chicago. Portland Metro Pipe Band has a juvenile pipe band called the Portland Metro Youth Pipe Band. Many of our band members teach our youth program to help keep the Scottish traditions going in our community.
